WHAT:  The fifth of 12 Super Chevy Show events slated for 2015 will be held at Texas Motorplex, May 16-17, 2015. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Super Chevy Show is a celebration of one of America’s most popular brands. The Motorplex will be filled with a car show, swap meet, car corral, kid’s model building area and of course, drag racing with the region’s top bracket racers as well as the fan-favorite PRO MOD SHOOTOUT!

WHERE:         Texas Motorplex, Ennis, Texas.  Track is located on Hwy. 287, two miles west of Ennis, between Interstates 35 and 45. 

WHEN:           May 16-17, 2015 (Fast Friday street legal racing held on May 15.)

SCHEDULEFRIDAY, MAY 15 – Fast Friday gates open 6 p.m.; Racing 7 p.m. – Midnight.

MAY 16-17 – Gates open 8 a.m.; Car show judging seminar 10:30 a.m.; People’s Choice awards at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday; Car show awards Sunday 3:30 p.m.

Friday Admission $10, Children 12 and under are FREE.                                                                                                         

Weekend Admission: Adults $15, Youth (Ages 13-17) $10, Children 12 and under are FREE.

The Super Chevy Show tour returns to Virginia Motorsports Park May 15-17, 2015 with the Heart of Virginia Chevrolet Dealers as a presenting sponsor.   The Heart of Virginia Chevrolet Dealers have been involved with Super Chevy Show (www.superchevyshow.com) for several years, but this is the first time all nine of its dealerships have gotten together for a combined promotion.

“The Heart of Virginia Chevrolet Dealers group is proud to have the opportunity to lend support to such a popular event,” said its President, John Burchell Jr. “The Super Chevy Show is a real Chevrolet staple and we welcome all the Chevy enthusiasts who travel from all around for this event.”

Virginia Motorsports Park (www.virginiamotorsports.com) has hosted a Super Chevy Show event for nearly two decades, and is considered one of the largest event hosts on the 12-event national tour.  Car Show, Drag Race, Swap Meet, and automotive enthusiast spectators of all ages not only attend from the Richmond and Petersburg surrounding areas, but also from up and down eastern U.S.

The Series boasts one of the nation’s finest performance and restoration midways for GM products.  Children are welcome to take part in the free Revell Make ’N Take activity each day to build their own model car to keep and take home from the event

For Immediate Release Super Chevy Show Results from Southwestern International Raceway

 Weekend highlighted by fast cars and an award winning car show



TUCSON, ARIZ. (May 6, 2015) –  Southwestern International Raceway™ (SWIR) welcomed the return of the Super Chevy Show last weekend as thousands of people gathered for the two-day event. The event was highlighted by bracket racing, a prestigious car show, swap meet, vendor midway and a pro show that featured Funny Cars and Jet Cars.Local racers came out for a chance to take home a coveted Super Chevy Show trophy and prize money after the event had been absent from the schedule for a decade. The bracket racing action was fierce, with Super Pro/Box, Pro/No Box classes and a street class. Brian Lopez from Tucson, Ariz. took the win from Robert Hall in the Super Pro/Box class when he ran a 10.007 second pass at 134.35 mph. Chuck Sorrensen was declared the winner in the Pro/No Box class on Sunday when he defeated Ken Passerby with an 11.213 second pass at 104.09 mph. Lastly, Dennis Ward went up against Jim Peterson in the Street class final round. Ward landed in the winner’s circle with a 17.094 second run at 80.86 mph.

In addition, the California Independent Funny Car Association joined the action with nine full-blown alcohol Funny Cars. It came down to Ron Ward and Andy Mears in the final round with Ward walking away victorious. This marked his first victory for Urban Legend Racing running a 7.606 second pass at 181.11 mph with a .034 reaction time.

Participants in the car show had multiple opportunities to shine as Super Chevy Magazine and a TV crew were on site to capture the return of the event at SWIR. Three individuals were presented with Producers Awards – Nancy Camp won the “OPGI” Original Award, Dean Newman won the Duracell “Crank it with the CopperTop” Award and Trish Williams won the RockAuto “Restored” Award. Super Chevy Magazine handed out 10 Editor’s Picks and the winners included – Spud Hester, Claudia Jierson, Ron Greulich, Bill Myers, David Elmer, Kevin Murray, Alan Mitchell, William Adams, Ted Dorman and Herb and Diana Santa Maria.
