KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 27) – The Super Chevy Show, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, kicks into high gear in June, hosting back-to-back events for the first and only time this season.
The touring series, which combines drag racing with a car-show, swap meet and a family carnival atmosphere, will make its first Midwest appearance when it visits Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio for the Micky Mart Rewards Super Chevy Show presented by Donald M Graham & Associates on Friday, June 11-Sunday, June 13.
The scene will then shift to Topeka, Kan. when the series will be hosted by Heartland Park Topeka on Friday, June 18-Sunday, June 20 for the Kansas Super Chevy Show presented by Rick Hendrick’s Superior Chevrolet.
“I think going back to back offers challenges for everyone involved,” said Bill Bader III, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park owner. “But we’re excited about this opportunity, because for this series to grow, we have to make it where (back-to-back events) are not unique, but part of an exciting national touring series that’s a big deal.”
The Micky Mart Rewards Super Chevy Show is expected to be a very big deal. It will include sportsman drag racing, including the new Shoebox class; a pro show that features eight Nostalgic Fuel Altereds and Les Shockley

This year many Chevrolet enthusiasts have a special anticipation for the Super Chevy Show because the series, celebrating its 30th year, is under new ownership that has committed to revitalizing the Super Chevy Shows with new features and more entertainment. Previous Super Chevy Shows this year have had high car counts and fan attendance. The Mickey Mart Rewards Super Chevy Show Presented by Donald M. Graham & Associates in Norwalk is the fourth of a 10-event series in 2010.
The Mickey Mart Rewards Super Chevy Show Presented by Donald M. Graham & Associates features eight nostalgia Fuel Altered race cars that run on nitromethane. This class of race car, a throw back to the 1960s, runs at over 220 mph in the quarter mile. The cars have a short wheelbase, resulting in a hard-to-handle vehicle that is banned from competition in other sanctioning bodies.
In addition, the Super Chevy Show will include a judged car show, the Shoebox Shootout featuring 1960 and older full-body Chevy cars in quarter-mile drag racing, a car corral, sportsman drag racing, a swap meet and the Performance and Restoration Marketplace. Les Shockley will be driving his twin-jet powered 1957 Chevrolet truck, named Super Shockwave.
Gates open at 8:00 am each of the three days. Adult spectator tickets are $12 Friday, $20 for Saturday or Sunday, or $40 for a three-day pass. Children six to 12 years of age are $5 per day or $10 for a three-day pass. Children five and under are free. The Mickey Mart Rewards Super Chevy Show Presented by Donald M.
