ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Track owner Steve Earwood and Dieffenbach GM Super Store General Manager Jeff Dieffenbach have confirmed that the Rockingham General Motors dealership has renewed its sponsorship of the Classic Rock Super Chevy Show and Richmond County Tourism, which returns to Rockingham Dragway Oct. 9-11.
The sport’s largest all-Chevy event, the Dieffenbach GM Superstore Super Chevy Show will feature bowtie action both on and off the track with a car show, swap meet and Chevrolet product displays along with a full slate of drag races.
The Dieffenbach GM Superstore, located at 1209 E. Broad Avenue in Rockingham, is a one-stop source for everything branded with the Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Buick logos as well as for service on all makes and models. Dieffenbach technicians are trained and equipped to handle everything from oil changes to tire rotations to brakes, batteries and multi-point vehicle inspections.
“The Dieffenbach GM Superstore is where you can get one of those Camaro 2LT coupes with the 6.2 liter V8,” Earwood said. “That’s one fast hot rod and you can bring it out to The Rock and shake it down whenever you want and maybe even bring it to the big race in the fall. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Jeff Dieffenbach and his crew at the dealership”.
The new 2015 Chevrolet Camaro will compete in the 2015 NHRA Funny Car Series with none other than John Force Racing (JFR). The 18-time Championship team has agreed to a multi-year contract to put Courtney Force, Robert Hight, and of course, John Force in Camaros. The team’s Top Fuel Dragster with Brittany Force behind the wheel will also be adorned with the iconic gold bow-tie.
“John Force is a champion and a legend both on and off the track, as a driver and as a team owner,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet Vice President for Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “John Force is a racer’s racer and a fierce competitor, and we are excited to welcome John and his team back to Chevrolet.”
“It is great to be back with Chevrolet. I started my career in a Chevy and my plan is to keep racing with them for many years to come. This is a great American company and we are excited about the opportunities in front of us,” said John Force, CEO John Force Racing and 16-time Funny Car champion.
Force has a long-standing relationship with Chevrolet, racing Corvettes, Citations, Luminas, Cavaliers and Camaros over his career. In 1994, Force won the NHRA Funny Car Championship racing a Chevrolet Lumina to an incredible 50-8 round win record, 11 final rounds, 10 wins and 12 No. 1 qualifiers.
“I won my first round of racing, went to my first final and got my first No. 1 in a Chevy. Since then I have won more rounds, races, championships than anyone in the sport. I have the record for most No. 1 qualifiers too and I can’t wait to get to the Winternationals and start adding to those records in a brand new Chevy,” added Force.
Last season was a landmark year for Chevrolet in racing, earning five manufacturers championships and six drivers championships. Chevrolet also notched notable victories in some of the year’s biggest races such as the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, IndyCar Duel in Detroit, and the 24 Hours of Daytona, along with NHRA U.S. Nationals wins in Pro Stock and Stock Eliminator. With the signing of John Force Racing, 2015 should prove to be one of the best years in Chevrolet racing history.
