KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 23) – It’s time to head west for the Super Chevy Show.

The national touring series will conclude its 30th anniversary season with two of its final four races out west, the first scheduled for Friday, Aug. 20-Sunday, Aug. 22 at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, Colo. Then, following events in Houston and Bristol, Tenn. the season concludes at Firebird International Raceway near Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 22-Sunday, Oct. 24.

There's a lot of excitement for the series with the new owners.
“We’ve been involved with Super Chevy Show for years,” said racing personality Lucky Hudson, who will be at both events as a racer and sponsor, representing Currie Enterprises, with manufactures high-performance rearends. “There’s a lot of excitement for the series with the new owners. We’re a West-based company, so these two events are very important to us and our customers.”

The Denver Super Chevy Show presented by Stevinson Chevrolet will be highlighted by a pro show that features the Six Second West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods, and a wheelstander. The weekend will also include sportsman racing; a car show and a vendor swap meet. There is also the Car Toys Aftershock Stage, which will provide round the clock entertainment.

The Phoenix Super Chevy Show, which will conclude the 10-race season, is one of the most-anticipated races on the tour, as this will be the Super Chevy Show’s first visit to Firebird International Raceway in five seasons.

The highlights for the season finale will be the heroes of the Nostalgic Funny Car Show, who pay homage to drag racing’s glory days while still providing some fantastic side-by-side competition. The show also will feature sportsman racing, the car show and vendor swap meet. An autocross is also scheduled at this event.

“The Phoenix race is going to be such a big draw,” said Hudson, who in addition to representing Currie Enterprises will also be at the two races with his live online television show, Speed Scene Live. The show can be accessed via the Internet at speedsceneracing.com.”This (event) draws a lot of fans and racers from Texas and Southern California, in addition to the fans from Arizona. A lot of them came to the first race in Las Vegas, and are excited to come back.

“They are looking forward it and with the track recently resurfaced, it should be one of the top events of the season.”

BAYTOWN, Texas (Aug. 4) — Houston Raceway Park hasn’t hosted a Super Chevy Show in five years. But when the national touring series, which is celebrating its 30th season, returns to Southern Texas, it will do so in style.

HRP officials announced this week that it will kick off the Houston Super Chevy Show presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts and Ron Craft Chevrolet, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11-Sunday, Sept. 12, with the Chevy Street Cruise that will parade through the heart of Baytown to Houston Raceway Park.

The cruise, which is expected to feature some of the best-looking classic and contemporary Chevy cars in the region, will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 at the Ron Craft Chevrolet dealership, which is located on Interstate 10 East between John Martin Road and Garth Road. It will feature police escorts and make its way through Baytown and arrive at HRP, where all participants will earn a Fast Pass into the track and to the car staging area.

HRP is topping off the event by awarding one lucky Chevy Street Cruise participant with a free four-day Caribbean cruise package from Carnival Cruise Lines. Various other door prizes with awards will be handed out from Ron Craft Chevrolet, including $500 in Exxon Mobile gas cards, a set of GM chrome nerf bars, two Chevy truck bedliners, two sets of his and her Chevy watches, gift cards to O’Reilly Auto Parts and much more.

“We could not think of a more appropriate way to launch the return of the Super Chevy Show to Houston Raceway Park than to kick off our weekend with this Chevy Street Cruise from Ron Craft Chevrolet,” said Seth Angel, HRP general manager. “I can only imagine what a parade of Chevy’s traveling in unison down Texas Avenue in downtown Baytown’s Historic District will look like. Get your cameras ready is all we can say because this will definitely be one of those Kodak moments.”

Registration for the Street Cruise is from 8-9:15 a.m., and will include a complimentary breakfast. The cruise is open to all Chevy bodied or powered automobiles, and General Motors cars, including Saab, Saturn, Hummer and Cadillac. All participants must enter Saturday’s Car Show, Car Corral or Show N’ Shine.

The winner of the Carnival Cruise package will be announced in the Tower Club during the car show awards ceremony.

Also, Super Chevy Magazine editors will be on site to provide coverage for the Street Cruise, with highlights to appear on superchevyshow.com and Super Chevy Magazine. Previous car show cruises at Super Chevy Show events this season were big hits, including the season-opening race in Las Vegas.

“At Ron Craft Chevrolet in Baytown, the excitement is building in anticipation of the upcoming Super Chevy Street Cruise that will be starting at the dealership on Saturday, Sept. 11,” Ron Craft Chevrolet’s Bill Suessman said. “Ron Craft Chevrolet is proud to have the opportunity to team up with Houston Raceway Park to be part of this huge event.

“We are looking forward to seeing hundreds of participants to start the Chevy Street Cruise. It is going to be a spectacular event, so come on out and join the fun.”

There will be more fun during the Houston Super Chevy Show, which will feature the popular car show and car corral, along with sportsman and pro show drag racing all weekend long. Sunday’s action will include an autocross, where racers will take to a road course and compete against the clock.

“The return of the Super Chevy Show to Houston Raceway Park is shaping up to be a spectacular weekend,” said Angel, “and just like the Chevy Street Cruise from Ron Craft Chevrolet, the whole Super Chevy weekend experience at Houston Raceway Park will be an unforgettable one.”
