Locals enjoy big day at Phoenix Super Chevy Show on Saturday
CHANDLER, Ariz (Oct. 23) — The wait is over.
The Super Chevy Show returned to Phoenix after an eight-year hiatus on Saturday, and if you call Arizona home, you were happy to welcome back the national touring series, which is concluding its 30th anniversary season with this weekend’s event that began on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
Saturday was the first of two car shows, with all 10 winners of Super Chevy Magazine’s Editors Choice Top 10 hailing from Arizona, including Dennis McClendon, of Meza..
The show concludes on Sunday, with another car show, swap meet, sportsman drag racing and the final day of the Total Cost Involved/Willwood/Currie Enterprises Autocross, which is being managed by the Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving.
Car Show Report: McClendon highlighted the winners of the Editors Choice awards, earning recognition with his ’62 Bel Air. Other winner were Marc Bosak, Litchfield Park, 1967 C10 Truck; Tim Andrella, Chandler, 1956 Z10; Jack Hodson, Glendale, 1967 Camaro; Bob Taylor, Glendale, 1966 Corvette; Mark Guiliani, Peoria, 1969 Chevelle; Tom Tieman, Phoenix, 1968 Camaro; Bob Smith, Lake Havasu City, 1955 Chevy and Claudia Jimerson, Tucson, 1966 Impala. Specialty awards were also given out on Saturday and the winners were: Judy Lippert (Transport Award, 1966 Chevy Nova), of Green, Kan.; Kevin and Alice Moloney (ISCA, 1982 Chevy Pickup), of Las Vegas, Nev. and Mark Allen (Trick Stick, 1967 Camaro RS/SS), of Mesa.
