Cruise, Racing, Car Show Highlight a Big Saturday at the Texas Super Chevy Show

ENNIS, Texas (May 22) — Saturday produced a little of every thing for car and truck enthusiasts at the Texas Super Chevy Show, which is event three of the 30th anniversary season.

There was racing, the popular car show, which for this event included a high number of classic and contemporary trucks, and a day of fun that featured a live band with The Morticians and a BBQ in the pits.

CRUISING TO SUCCESS: The day began with the Texas Super Chevy Show Cruise, which had 50 show cars make the trek from the Cowboys Dancehall in Arlington to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.

CAR SHOW: The Super Chevy Show is all about a car show like no other, and that proved to be true at the Texas Super Chevy Show, which featured 152 show cars and 55 who participated in the Show and Shine portion of the show. There will be another car show on Sunday, and we will have a complete list of all the winners. Saturday also included the popular midway, which featured some 55 vendors at the swap meet portion of the show.

SATURDAY RACE REPORT: The Super Chevy Show is also about racing, and there was plenty of that as some 142 cars showed up to dance on the famed all-concrete Texas Motorplex quartermile. Saturday’s winners were Neil Shary in the bonus bracket race; Adaryl Hamin Jr. in the Electronic Quick 8 and Marcus Cervantes in the No Electronics eliminator. Shary won with a time of 8.113 seconds at 155.85 mph. Hamlin drove to a 7.408 pass at 178.71 mph, while Cervantes powered his Chevelle to a 9.347 at 134.30 mph.

SUNDAY’S SCHEDULE: A big day is slated for Sunday, with another car show and more bracket racing, highlighted by the Shoebox Shootout and a Pro Show that will feature Kenny Nelson
